David Sherwood is a veteran South African actor, voice artist and singer whose professional career spans more than five decades. Born in 1944, he trained in Dramatic arts at Marlborough College in Liverpool and Birmingham Theatre School before beginning his professional career in 1967.
His extensive credits encompass theatre, film, television and radio. He has appeared in productions including Shaka Zulu, Tropical Heat, The Adventures of Sinbad, Isidingo, Rhythm City, Konfetti, Nothing for Mahala and Black Beauty. He also performed on stage in classics such as Hamlet, Macbeth and The Rocky Horror Show.
Alongside acting, Sherwood has built a distinguished career as a voice artist, lending his versatile voice to commercials, documentaries, animation, radio and post-synchronisation work. His repertoire includes British, American, Scottish, Australian, French, German and Russian accents. He has received Artes Award nominations for his acting and radio work, reflecting his enduring contribution to South African performance.
